What's a .wav file extension

Question: Downloaded what im assuming to be a nature documentary from the nps.gov all im getting is audio. Ive downloaded it multiple times and even install windows media player 11, divx, and other such programs.

All I see is audio and lines on the media player like i was listening to the radio or something?

Answer: Well a .wav file is an audio file. Im thinking that those are just sound recordings of nature. Ive looked at their site and thats all I really see.

So again .wav is short for waveform audio its like an uncompressed .mp3 basically. Because its uncompressed its large like a video file. Some commons video extensions are .avi, .mpg, .wmv, .mov
