What's a .wps file extension

Question: Im helping my mom move and when setting up her computer we cannot access some of the files on her floppy drives. She has a few files nature.wps and retiree presenta.wps that are dead? Of course I could be doing something wrong but it seems this way. Help fast please as im leaving Tuesday. Thanks |

Staffer: Sarah | Posted: 08.24.09 Answer: OK.. no worries you didnt break anything. A .wps file is a Microsoft Works file, its the older and less expensive office suite that Microsoft used to sell. They discontinued works last year, 2008. But to answer your question you need to open it with Microsoft Word and do a conversion. To do this right click the document. Select open with, if Word doesnt show up then browse to the Program Files, then Microsoft Office folder then select word from there. As it opens it may ask you to convert it, thats really your choice, i would if i where you, but im not. You should be able to read it now. You may need to do this for each file.
