What's a .csv file extension

Question: I ordered a inventory database amongst other things and it comes on a cd. I asked for an access database and they send me a csv and an exe. Ive called numerous times and they dont answer so I googled csv and found you. Help me please im bleeding out my ears im so stressed.

Answer: If you are really bleeding we suggest calling 911. All joking aside a csv is a comma separated value, and an exe is an installer file.

There should have been a readme or some other instructions that came with it, but if not thats poor planning on the behalf of the company that sold you that.

Well the good news is the data is most likely in the csv file. The bad news is you may have to do an import into access. Thats not that hard to do really, but its still a little extra work.

If you create a new access database and get external data from the menu then select the csv file it starts a wizard that will walk you through the rest. Alternatively there is a tool call csv to sql if you are interested in converting it into a sql database file for either sql or mysql server.

Hope I helped. Id try calling that company back if I was you.
